Nestled along the north shore of Keystone Lake in northeastern Oklahoma, Walnut Creek State Park is surrounded by clear waters, sandy beaches, high bluffs, and rolling hills, making it the ideal retreat for fun and quiet relaxation.

Location: 13 miles east of the 209th ST (Prue Rd) exit off of highway 412 between Tulsa and Stillwater Oklahoma.

Walnut Creek State Park has 4 boat ramps of which one in Area 1 is lighted and two in Area 2 are lighted.

Swimming Beaches

The sandy shoreline at Walnut Creek State Park is ideal for swimmers and water enthusiasts. Swim beaches are located in the Tall Grass Cove and Frontier campgrounds. Their are NO lifeguards on duty at the Park. Please use caution and obey all water safety rules.

Camping

Walnut Creek State Park has over 140 designated campsites for the RV and Tent camper.

RV Camping: Walnut Creek offers 8 modern RV sites with water, sewer, and electricity in the Hitching Post and Prairie campgrounds. There are 71 semi-modern RV sites with water and electricity located in the Hitching Post, Pioneer, and Frontier campgrounds. A handicap accessible RV site is available in the Pioneer campground.

Tent Camping: Numbered tent sites with tables and grills are located in most campgrounds. There are numerous primitive campsites located in Area 2. Comfort Stations and water sources are nearby.

Picnic Areas: Walnut Creek has 148 picnic tables, some with grills, throughout the park.

Equestrian Camping: Overnight camping is located in the Hitching Post campground.

Comfort Stations

Walnut Creek State Park has 5 comfort stations (4 have showers) and there are handicap accessible comfort stations in Pioneer and Prairie camp areas.

Play Areas

Walnut Creek State Park has 4 play areas in the Bluestem, Pioneer, Lakeview, and Tallgrass campgrounds and one softball field, a football/soccer field and one portable volleyball set.

Nature – Trails – Signs

Trails: Walnut Creek’s Sand Plum Trail is approximately 17 miles in length, crossing flat to rolling terrain, and affords many vistas of Keystone Lake. The trail is available to hikers, equestrians, and mountain bike enthusiasts. Equestrian trails are marked with green and white ribbon and loop trails are marked with blue and white or red paint or ribbon. Please stay on marked trails, there are also alternate trails around some gullies. Trail users are advised to stay on designated trails; quicksand may occur along lakeshore. 

Equestrian Amenities: Beside the Hitching Post overnight campground, there is a day use parking area for equestrian riders in the Tumbleweed Area. Riding is NOT allowed on the beach areas. Current Coggins Papers are required before riding trails.

Group Shelter

Walnut Creek State Park has a covered group picnic shelter located in the Blue Stem Cove area. The shelter will accommodate up to 50 people. Electricity is available at the Shelter and a water source is nearby. A mini comfort station is near the picnic shelter.
