2003 Day Use Fees
(Note: Fees have raised slightly over 2002 Day Use fees)

The Corps of Engineers was given the authority by the Congress to collect Day Use fees as part of deficit reduction legislation the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993. The funds generated from these fees are used to help pay the operation and maintenance costs in the Corps’ recreation program.

  • A fee of $1 per person, but not more than $4 per vehicle, is charged at developed swimming beaches.
  • A fee of $3 is charged at selected boat launching ramps that have additional amenities.

The maximum Day Use fee to any one vehicle per day is $4.
There are no Day Use fees for children under 12 years of age.
Registered campers will not pay Day Use fees in addition to camping fees.

Annual Day Uses Pass

Annual passes may be purchased which permit vehicle and accompanying passengers to use all boat launching ramps and swimming beaches at Corps operated areas without further charges.  This is a nation-wide program.

Golden Age and Golden Access Passports will be honored.  Holders are eligible to purchase the annual pass for half price or use Day Use facilities, together with guests, for half the fee.

Annual Day Use Passes can be obtained at the Corps lake offices, from the District headquarters building in Tulsa, or via the mail.

Camping Fee Program

The Corps of Engineers camping fee program was established under the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, supplemented by Public Law 92-347, and amended by Public Law 93-81, Public Law 93-303, and Public Law 103-66. The law provides for the charging of special recreation use fees at designated Federal recreation areas. Fees will be charged by the Tulsa District Corps of Engineers in three categories of camping areas.

  • Class A campgrounds are those having flush restrooms, showers, paved roads, sanitary disposal stations, designated tent or trailer spaces, refuse containers, and potable water.
  • Class B areas have similar facilities with the exception that flush toilets or showers are not provided.
  • Class C areas are those having basic sanitary facilities, designated tent or trailer spaces, refuse containers, and potable water.

There are different charges for overnight camping for each class of park. Parties who have paid a camping fee are exempt from any additional charges for day use activities. Group camping fees are based on the facilities available within the group site. There is a small additional charge for sites with direct water or sewer hookups, or those sites which are designated as prime sites.

Parks having a camping fee are marked by signs bearing this symbol:

About the Reservation Program

The Corps of Engineers and the US Forest Service have joined together to create a new national system for reserving recreation facilities. The National Recreation Reservation Service (NRRS TM) is available to take your reservations.

This system allows you to check campsite availability and reserve a campsite at Corps or Forest Service sites throughout the United States. You can use the system by calling a toll free number (1-877-444-6777).

Campsites may be reserved up to 240 days in advance, and group facilities such as picnic shelters may be reserved up to 360 days in advance. Of course, campsites will still be available on-site without a reservation.
